Arthur’s Picks This Week

Tetairoa McMillan Zebra Shock Rookie

The most visually distinctive card in the lineup may be the 2025 Select Premier Level Zebra Shock Tetairoa McMillan rookie.

Select’s animal-print parallels are already popular for their bold designs and scarcity, and the PSA population report reinforces how difficult this particular card is to find. Only 12 copies have earned a PSA 10 Gem Mint grade, with only 14 total copies graded by PSA. 

That combination of a scarce parallel, a perfect grade, and one of football’s most promising young receivers makes this one of the week’s most compelling rookie cards.

Luke Kuechly Bookend Parallel

The timing is especially fitting for Panthers collectors and football fans. Luke Kuechly was recently selected as a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2026 and will be formally enshrined in Canton on August 8, less than a week after this auction closes.

From 2012 through 2019, Kuechly surpassed 100 tackles in each of his eight NFL seasons while earning seven Pro Bowl selections, five First-Team All-Pro honors, Defensive Rookie of the Year, and Defensive Player of the Year. He was also selected to the NFL’s All-Decade Team of the 2010s and became a three-time winner of the Butkus Award as the league’s top linebacker.

Although his career lasted only eight seasons, Kuechly established himself as the heart of the Carolina defense and one of the most instinctive, complete linebackers of his generation.

The 2023 Score Electric Luke Kuechly is serial-numbered 01/99, giving it added appeal as the first card produced in the limited print run.

Bo Nix Rookie Pair

Bo Nix collectors have two different rookie cards to consider this week as optimism builds around his third NFL season.

Nix helped lead Denver to the AFC’s top seed and a dramatic overtime playoff victory over Buffalo before a fractured ankle brought his season to a premature end. Rather than diminishing expectations, that unfinished postseason run may only add to the anticipation surrounding what Nix and the Broncos can accomplish in 2026.

The first card is a 2024 Donruss Optic Holo Prizm rookie graded CGC 10 Gem Mint. Optic remains one of the most recognizable modern football releases, while the Holo Prizm finish gives the card additional visual appeal over the standard base version.

The second is a 2024 Topps Chrome Refractor graded CGC 9.5 Mint+. With Topps back in the football card market, early Chrome cards of the league’s young quarterbacks offer an interesting alternative to their more established Panini releases of recent years.

Drake Maye and Caleb Williams Back in the Spotlight

In addition to the two Bo Nix cards, Auction #237 includes two Drake Maye rookies and a Caleb Williams insert—giving collectors several opportunities to target quarterbacks from the talented 2024 draft class.

Maye’s stock received a major boost last season as he helped lead New England to Super Bowl LX in only his second NFL season. Although the Patriots fell short against Seattle, Maye threw for 295 yards and two touchdowns on football’s biggest stage, further establishing himself as one of the league’s most promising young quarterbacks.

The auction includes both a 2024 Panini Prizm Draft Picks rookie and a 2024 Topps Chrome rookie, with each card graded CGC 10 Gem Mint. The Prizm Draft Picks card features Maye in his collegiate uniform, while the Topps Chrome release provides an early professional-era alternative.

Caleb Williams enters the new season with plenty of attention as well. The Bears quarterback was selected as the cover athlete for EA Sports Madden NFL 27, becoming the first Chicago Bears player ever featured on a Madden cover. The distinction reflects the star power and expectations surrounding Williams as he prepares for his third NFL season.

His 2024 Topps Signature Class Gridiron Ambassadors rookie is graded CGC 10 Gem Mint and offers collectors another affordable way to add one of the league’s most visible young quarterbacks.

Having two copies in the same auction gives collectors a useful opportunity to follow both listings. Similar cards do not always finish at the same price, especially when bidding activity becomes concentrated on one copy.
