Arthur’s Picks This Week

Robinson Cano Bowman Chrome Refractor PSA 10

Career Highlights: 17 seasons, .301 batting average, 2,639 hits, 335 HR, 1,306 RBI, .488 SLG, 68.7 WAR, 8 All-Star selections, 5 Silver Sluggers, and 2 Gold Gloves.

The 2003 Bowman Chrome Draft Picks Refractor Robinson Cano is one of our favorite baseball cards in this week's auction.

Coming from early in Cano's professional career, the card combines the prospecting appeal of Bowman Chrome with the familiar Refractor finish that has become one of the hobby's most recognizable parallels.

This example is graded PSA 10 Gem Mint, giving collectors a high-grade early Cano card from one of the hobby’s cornerstone prospect products.

The 2003 Bowman set also carries some hobby history. Topps first experimented with the 1st Bowman designation in 1996 before moving away from it the following year. The concept returned in 2003 with the “1st Year Card” stamp and, from that point forward, became a regular part of Bowman prospecting.

So while 2003 was not technically the first year of the 1st Bowman—see what we did there?—it marked the beginning of the modern annual tradition collectors still chase today.

After last week's auction showed strong interest in older cards that combine established names with recognizable products and parallels, this is another one we'll be interested to watch on Sunday.

Larry Walker Atomic Refractor PSA 9

Career Highlights: 17 seasons, .313 batting average, 2,160 hits, 383 HRs, 1,311 RBI, .565 SLG, 72.7 WAR, 5 All-Star Games, 3 Silver Slugger Awards, 7 Gold Glove Awards, 3 batting titles, 1997 NL MVP, Hall of Fame Class of 2020.

The 1996 Bowman's Best Preview Atomic Refractor Larry Walker brings some distinctly 1990s shine to Auction #240.

Atomic Refractors remain one of the more recognizable treatments from the early chromium era, combining the Bowman's Best design with a refractor pattern that immediately separates the card from a standard issue.

This Walker is graded PSA 9 Mint, one of nine examples to receive the grade out of a total PSA population of just 13. The number matching is uncanny this week.

For collectors who enjoy 1990s refractors and premium inserts, this is one of the more interesting cards in the auction.

Collin Morikawa Exquisite Collection Auto /25

Golf makes a rare appearance in our weekly auction lineup with a 2024 Upper Deck Portfolio Golf Exquisite Collection '03 Collin Morikawa autograph.

The card is serial-numbered to just 25 copies and carries a DNA 10 autograph grade with a PSA 8 card grade.

Exquisite has long been associated with premium designs, autographs, and low print runs across the card hobby, and this example brings all three together in a golf release.

With only 25 copies produced, it is also one of the most limited cards in Auction #240.

Morikawa currently sits 9th in the FedExCup standings heading into this week’s BMW Championship, the second event of the FedExCup Playoffs. With 750 points available to the winner, a victory could move him as high as second in the standings, depending on how the players ahead of him finish. With the tournament also scheduled to conclude Sunday, this card could have an exciting finish alongside it.

Larry Fitzgerald Silver Spotlight /50

The 2005 Leaf Limited Silver Spotlight Larry Fitzgerald gives football a scarce early-career card this week.

The Silver Spotlight is serial-numbered to only 50 copies and comes from a premium Leaf Limited release.

This example is graded PSA 7 NRMT.

This should be another fun one to watch. For those who followed last week’s auction, we sold a 2003 Leaf Limited Bronze Spotlight Drew Brees /150 PSA 9 shortly after his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Fitzgerald entered the Hall alongside Brees as part of the Class of 2026, giving us a natural follow-up from the same Leaf Limited family. The grade is lower here, but so is the serial number, with just 50 copies produced.

Being based in Arizona, we can confidently say Larry remains a fan favorite in Valley sports history. We’ll see whether that local and national collector interest shows up in the auction results this week.

Shotaro Morii Bowman Chrome Prospect Auto

This 2025 Bowman Chrome Prospect Auto gives collectors an early signed card from one of the younger names in the Bowman prospect checklist. 

At just 19 years old, Shotaro Morii has already created quite the buzz among the baseball prospecting crowd. 

This card has not yet been graded, but it has been certified as authentic by CGC.

Baseball Highlights

Cam Schlittler has quickly become one of the breakout names of the 2026 season. After bursting onto the scene with a dominant postseason performance last year, he now enters the stretch run as the current betting favorite for the American League Cy Young Award, carrying a 10-6 record and 2.19 ERA.

Jackson Merrill and Jac Caglianone both entered the year as highly regarded young players, and both have looked much more like the versions collectors expected since the All-Star break.

Merrill is hitting .322 with nine home runs and 25 RBI in 30 games since the break, while Caglianone is hitting .319 with seven home runs and 23 RBI in 25 games.

Tommy White has not necessarily lit it up since reaching the majors, but he has shown flashes of the offensive ability that made him one of the more notable bats in the Athletics’ system. He is currently hitting .267 with two home runs and four RBI in 28 games.

Zac Veen was recently called back up by the Colorado Rockies and hit the ground running, homering in his first game back in the majors. He is currently hitting .333 with two home runs and seven RBI since his return.
